MIGLIMIGLIA 2010
Resolvi aceitar o desafio e, logo, me inscrevi.
Ele compreendeu e me encaminhou acompanhando-me por parte do trajeto cobrando-me noticias e visita em breve. Aqui eu me separo do Rubens e passamos a seguir em tempos diferentes.

Object of desire among the largest in the world randonneurs, the 1001 Miglia Italy proved to be worthy of its reputation. In its first edition, randonneurs open to the world, had a spartan circuit causing the participants showed, in addition to strength, skill and great technique. I say so because, I had the great orportunidade this achievement.

My goal was to attend an international brevet that pointed to some evidence in North America until the staff of Audax Randonnee Italia, invited me to participate in the 1001 Miglia 2010. I decided to accept the challenge and thus I enrolled.
Commenting with my friend Rubens, that was willing and yielded to temptation. There we were, both by exchanging information about the brevet major. Then came the workouts, brevets history and routine tests usually trained as usual. Unlike Rubens, have never been very methodical (heheh). My intention was to attend the event and learn what I could. But above all, those moments live intensely. The conquest would be a consequence to toast my effort and dedication.
After a glow reception from our hosts, we enjoy the province of Milan before starting the challenge. Hours before the start of the brevet, we received a gracious monastery located in the center of Nerviano. This was distributed, the "kits" for the brevet. While we waited our turn, I could talk with many Randonneurs that there presented itself. Very nice, is solicitous and helpful. I was proud and accomplished because I was there with the greatest Randonneurs world of cycling long distance. At the same time, I met the participants and volunteers, I realized what incredible bikes each. Contrary to what one sees in brevets regional or even the PBP, those pearls were ultra modern. Charming and very few were in traditional style (raw material and design). I can only comment on that Rubens, dazzled as much as I do not know which bike was the coolest. Gradually, we became involved with everything and everyone.
With a plan start and on a course dedicated to the Po River, we enjoyed the gracious country roads surrounded by fields, rice paddies and plantations of acacias. Although the evening, we crossed the city that gave birth to Verdi, Busseto. The towns we went through, you could hear music echoing from the inns and taverns. As we walked, we could see the famous water storage dams built in antiquity. The excitement and anxiety were high, and therefore meant that I cycled in high, always. Me and Ruben, sometimes shouted "mimimimimi" to each other, checking to see if we were still together ... no one understood anything ... must be crazy, they thought. Also in this path, we passed through towns where they lived, the famous painter Antonio Ligabue who was famous for his extravagant paintings (naf style), and the writer Brescello Guareschi (Don Camillo and Peppone). On roads that pass through a plain where the Este family ruled for a long time, we could slide by with no straight roads and curves up to 18Km. On the way, beautiful cities in visibly welcomed each one with its particularities. Gradually, I know, but returns some cyclists I met hours before the brevet.
End of the plains, now it was time to climb, and much! At the foot of the mountains, I could taste and variety of juicy fruits (grapes, melons, plums, apples ...) harvested from plants. After 22 hours riding, came memonto of rest, the ride was nice and fast.
With many ups and downs, the second step was shown to be challenging. With the best views, the hills of Tuscany, the scenery was breathtaking. To underline the commitment at this stage just comment that in this region altitude and beauty, San Francisco de Assis, retired to meditate and Bartali, worked hard to challenge the myth and rival Fausto Copi. But while I pedaled on that path, the chain broke on my bici. The worst thing was that I could not find a piece of it to fix what I had in reserve, was too small. As he looked frustrated, that incredible landscape, surrounded by vineyards and the hills of Tuscany sewn back roads back roads, a old man appears asking what had happened. Very helpful, asked me to wait for a few minutes he would find a solution and put myself in the race again. About twenty minutes after he appears in the distance, turning a chain of bike like lassoing an animal. Smiling, he tells me he found the solution - Questo non è lo stesso come il tuo, ma è Campagnolo e molto buona per ritornare a il brevetto. He said it was not like me but my current put me in brevet again. Excited and honored by this gentleman, I asked what was the cost of any kind ... he asked me to hold the bike while he turned around to enjoy my (and see if everything was ok). What's wrong? ... I thought. He leaves smiling racing, singing, and disappears into the horizon with my bike. – Oh, NO! Now I was screwed by a rogue who made me a bundle. Repaired my bike and sent it to her. He thought up the shame of telling it to others. For a few moments of the drama and suspense had settled in my mind. But a few minutes later, at my back, I hear that crazy singing and shouting my name from the other side. Laughing, and I "bugle because I had thought that he would run with my bike (heheheh). After the fright and fun, he asks me to follow him to his house just over the road. Once there, he opened the garage of his mansion and then everything becomes clear. As an Angel, Angelo Litt, saved my skin. This gentleman, about 72 years, was a great Italian cyclist who, like many, had to interrupt their careers to take over the family business. Took me to see relics and small personal collection, and Lamborghini outside Ferrai who had in his garage. Well, forgot the time and was doing there. The guy had a paradise inside the garage, be cycling or even their fancy cars ... let alone in the house that if it depended on him, I would go there (eheheheeh). Got to get back to the brevet. I exclamed him with a worried tone. He understood me and sent me by following the path charging me news and visit soon. Extremely winding roads down (as we see in the Giro), down to the birthplace of Michelangelo, Caprese. Following through ups and downs, gone through some incredible castles, medieval towns, cathedrals and the famous River Tiber. It was during this stage my first test of skill. By carelessness and inattention, I managed to get lost wandering the ugly way. Was about 3 hours off the route, trying to re-test.Here I separate myself from Rubens and then passed at different times. Managed through a parallel road to re-route arriving at my destination, to get enough rest and resume the brevet. At this stage, I paid dearly with fatigue and less time to rest from there. In company with two super-randonneurs English (Adrian and Chris), I, the third phase, beginning with a lot of effort but offset by the beautiful view of Lake Bolsena and herds of sheep crossing my way frantically. The land was hilly and difficult as ever crossed the region of ancient Etruscans. Although tired, he saw several castles were not hallucinations, were part of a region told in stories that ran the world. A path surrounded and isolated by nature. An odd landscape and portrayed in major works of art ever seen. In the camps, by the road, vineyards, where the aroma of grapes and nectar was felt. It was the region of Montalcino, where it produces the best wine in the world. Finished off the stage with plenty of physical wear and the debt with the rest time. But compensated lot, knowing that Kuki and Joana were there waiting for my arrival.
Resumption in challenging path starting with Veronica (USA) and later, accompanied by napolineses Carlo and Giancarlo (seems musical duo, right?), Which transported us through hills under the challenge of successive rises and falls until you see strong the medival San Gimignano that, after passed, came again in contact with the urban areas and large industrial logistics to Montecatini, famous for its thermal water sources. A pillow with sleep to compensate for delays, errors en route and return through regions that make connections with Tuscany and the story of Pinocchio.
While tidying up my stuff to leave, get the company of three cyclists cool: Veronica (USA), Hamid, a Persian who lives in the U.S. and Germany's Wolfgang.
After the beautiful and charming Castelnuovo Garfagnana (medieval town), who was party to cross its interior, we climbed a series of twists and turns, through small towns that you could hear the sound of celebrations that echoed through the mountains. We went up and very convoluted, so we required a physical effort and psychological immeasurable. We reached our limit, I and the three who were with me supercycle. There was still breath to move, but preferred to sleep in a little nook for a recompormos our energies and move on because, subiriamos this stage, 80km. I remember that Veronica suggested that dormíssemos in a car that, perchance, could be unlocked - You are loony, and not think ... she found one! What a crazy ... Palio saloon that served us on that cold night shelter and comprehensive. Ilaria and unusual situation. After 40 minutes of sleep, we resumed our climb until we reach full Aulla under the cool breeze from the Sea of Liguria. We were beside the Sea.
After a nap we went to recover even before sunrise. My group came forward a little and just stopped at the gate of the passing train at dawn. At the same time, I had the company of my Russian friends (Nicolay and Anton) who had passed few times ago. We followed a road that seemed an endless climb. Although there was a feeling of going up, trying to hold the bike for a few moments to rest your legs, but she's not walking. Sure, I was climbing. But the path was so long that I just realized how much had gone up a few times when I stopped and looked back. Within moments, the boys Russians leave me behind. A wonderful forest, which often reminded me of the way of Santa Giustina in Caxias do Sul - In fact... the entire trip we saw reminded me but without the medieval towns or vines upright. I cycled a last steep mountain until I saw the first sign of the Cinque Terre. The road passed through a set of cliffs in the forest. At some points, seemed to offer a vision of paradise: the sky, cliffs, forests and sea, forming part of the Cinque Terre Park. This trip was really nice but very hard. While dazzled me with the views of the coast of Liguria, extensively climbing mountains and down with variations of 5 and 8 km. The heat was intense and dehydrating. On this course I rushed to get off at Buonassola, thinking that, there Deiva Marina could reach the coast. Still dazzled and seduced by the scenery, I recognized a containment wall that is famous passage in the Giro D’Italia (Viva Giro). So I could rest before going down and take a picture in front of the breadwinner.
I went down to the beach and realized that I had cheated. Should revert to reach Deiva. I looked up and saw that the climb was very spartan then I relaxed and decided to take a bath beach - Since I missed, I'll at least enjoy! Bathed and lunch done, I resumed my ride to my destination. The climb was really tough and exhausting. Had not remembered to replace the water that I had and had to go drinking with caution. Beginner's error but it happens. Measured with sips, I began to climb in that scorching heat - All that energy spent to return to the normal path, was enough to burn my dear lunch and "relax" on the beach ... Gambling ... here we go!
With some stops for recharging my batteries, and a possible rash, I came to Deiva Marina. A good snack and nap to recover to the last step.
With a bit of a hurry my friends, I had reached departed. I still needed to restore water and some details. That done, I resumed my way. Left alone and was the last to leave. It was the lantern brevet (hihihi). I climbed down a road parallel to the "highway" that could be seen just below the mountain I climbed. I climbed a lot (12 km) until I found the road leading to Genoa. Very busy, I went from the top down in full - That part was good! Just slipped on my bike at full speed winding auquelas mountains. Reached the point of walking sized motorcycles and cars that went down together. Recklessness on my part, but adrenaline is also true in randonnee.
This passage has become stressful, when I got a cross with arrows that had been crossed out (like an X) and rebuilt the side, pointing the opposite pair - What now? ... I thought it was some dirty will be a resident of that citadel where I went? In a batch, I took information with some guys (very friendly and helpful) that, soon, informed how to get to my destination. Therefore to follow this course until my Casella through a deserted mountain road. Alone, I felt something strange and empty. A moment of agony and loneliness that made me think of what, actually I was doing there. Did not look like there was no answers .... I rode just to find the tunnels that the boys had talked about. I took the course until the next Check Control (PC). Arriving in Casella, appeared MAX (volunteer and organizer) screaming my name like a madman. I was worried because I thought I had lost (perhaps at the crossroads of information redone). Escorted me to the PC where I could find my group of pedal, and Hamid Wolfgang. There knew that Veronica had left some time ago and they were about to quit. We refurbish a little and left together once, I had insisted on them for us to end up together.
The last step was cruel. Tired and not thinking with his head right, take our final destination. In Corso Trento Trieste, we were exhausted and very sleepy.Could not stand to stay awake on the bike. We decided to rest a little. My first time as indigent. Under the awning of a building of 60 years, amid the ancient architecture of the city, took off some cardboard that seemed to be there on purpose. We pulled up in a corner each, and slept for 40 minutes in the cold.We woke up ready and eager to finish the brevet. We started toward the city of myth Fausto Copi. We should take a picture of us in town to prove that we spent there. In a fork, we decided to take one of the tracks, chegandos the city's face but could not find your museum or mausoleum. Only one house that appeared to be the museum. We draw some pictures and went ahead. On asphalt, you could see who provided written tributes to Copi. They were many and demarcate a putative cycling circuit that region. Bicycles lay in the ground and we draw pictures there too. Soon we arrived at the center of town and stopped in front of City Hall (I think it was). In addition to ensuring some photos, we decided to get some sleep before we finalize our brevet. It was very cold, woke up cold and wet from the dew. That's a strong area it snows in winter ... take an average! With the cold and shaking Bicycles, we headed to Nerviano.Gradually, the sun was rising and warming our bodies that have not responded as we wanted. Hungry and coasting along the Po River valley, we parked to eat. It was early, and had crossed by many cyclists as we pedaled. By fields and rice paddies in the countryside was beautiful morning light. In the region of Pavia, a happening Italian league stage of cycling. We of course, we ignored it until, while crossing a small town, we crossed the starting line of a professional squad that was on hand counter. Comic movie scene in which the cameras turned to the three stooges who had invaded a cycling event. Only, we were identified as the bungling of Miglimiglia ... we delivered our plates. Soon after, crossed with other squads and Hamid, without thinking right (or almost nothing), he tore the same understanding that they, that were on our way.Wolfgang and I played the bicis out the small road that was taken by that platoon. We watched with awe as received elbows Hamid, head butts and kicks in the middle of the peloton apart (aside from his hand that he received from adjectives). Actually, it was very funny to go through this at the end of everything. It looked like a movie that, for a moment, we recharged with energy and emotion, and are close to the finish line. Gradually we could recognize some places, days before, was our starting point. Even the prostitutes, the roadside, we already knew and upward shouting (hihihi). After the last corner, tears filled my eyes because it is through winning an ultra brevet. As we enter the yard of arrival, we heard the screams and applause for the deed. An odd emotion and no description. Just living it to understand what it feels like. The organizers and fellow pedal running to greet and how was... my wife, unconditional companion throughout the trip coming to greet me, is priceless. The reunion with the companions who did and won by the way, and especially with the dear Rubens (Mimimimi) and his incredible Joana. Distance ourselves from each other by my antics. But emotionally, I knew I was always worried about me wanting to know where or how I was.
Amid the difficulties of the journey, I could always count on my wife Kuki and dear friend Joana. I comforted and motivated, knowing that Kuki was in a PC waiting for me. She and Joana, always adjusting things constantly taking turns to meet me, and Rubens. Also, in many situations, remember each companion brevets in Brazil, as if they were me. I really wanted everyone to have the privilege of participating in a race like that. Also, I learned a lot in this brevet watching as others practiced. I understand how to organize an event this size, and the main thing, no matter how much you prepare, unexpected things happen, and we must deal with them. The biggest secret, is to have your unconscious  working for you. I always thought of me having fun doing it, wanting to win too but if I could not well resolved. The idea was to make the most, knowing the people, places and everything hovesse there. Winning the brevet, was only a consequence that would hail this incredible experience - That bullet, I signed my name on the list top!
